Practice Makes Perfect

I haven't managed to get a lot of sewing done over the last week - the result of 1) being back at work and transitioning from one role to the other, and 2) going out for a decent sail on Saturday - Evans Bay Yacht club ran the 'east to west' race from Days Bay to Evans Bay. I will post more about the race once the Club publishes the photo's on their website. We not only won our division but we also won best dressed!

Despite all that has been going on, I managed to find some time today to complete the Oakshott HST Quilt. I have been using this quilt to practice the concentric circle quilting pattern, for which I will use on the substantially larger Green Is Underrated Quilt.

Just to digress a wee bit... you can see that my lawn is coming along nicely!

Last time I posted about this quilt I mentioned that I was having issues with the quilt not laying flat near the center. Well I found out later that something went wrong with the thread tension. Had I noticed at the time I could of un-picked things and started again, however by the time I noticed the quilting had been completed. In the end I decided to reduce the size of the quilt to get rid of the issue. This has all been a good learning experience for me and I am confident that with the practice I've had, the Green Is Underrated Quilt will be a success! That will be March's project.

P.s. this week I will make a start on the backing fabric for the King Sized Bed Quilt.
