Click on this link for a recap of my January projects (3 completed baby quilts)
Below is a brief overview of my projects & goals for February...
1. Scrappy Speckle Quilt. The goal here will be to complete at least half of the quilt top - that is 13 blocks, and so far 3 down, 10 to go. Each block requires a bit of time and patience to complete so I don't want to set a goal of completing the entire quilt top before the months end as I know I would disappoint.
2. The second project (to be started, asides from cutting) will be an Oakshott HST Quilt - using a bit of inspiration from this Rainbow Quilt by Sarah of Coopcrafts. Completing this quilt top wont be a big task and will be achievable before the months end. Below are the main Oakshott fabrics that will be used, however there will be a couple of other colours in there to complement this stash
3. My final project for February will be a bit of a challenge. I have been asked to make a large king-sized bed quilt, and have been provided with the lovely fabric below to do this with. Given that this quilt will be rather large, I will get Sue B to quilt this one on her long arm sewing machine - which will save me a bit of time. However I still need to come up with an idea of how to use the fabric! This one will be a challenge but I am confident I will come up with something ... I still have a weeks worth of holidays up my sleeve :)
Fly My Pretties - Get Out
P.s. Heidi is recovering well from her operation!

oooh, I love Oakshotts, I wish I could afford them. And you just made my day, will have to show my other half: LOOK, THERE ARE MEN WHO QUILT. (found you through Lily's Quilts)
ReplyDeleteLoving your scrappy speckle quilt, that is a really cool idea. What are you using for the background? Are you sure you want to give those lovely oakshott's away? If so you'll be missing out on seeing me make them into pretty stars!
ReplyDeleteI love the fabric for the king size quilt. Will come back to see what you decide to do with it. As for the Oakshotts ... I'm thinking on it!
ReplyDeleteIt's Colourbox rather than Colorbox for us Brits too! Paddington quilts look great, and love the colour combo for the king size quilt. The Oakshott fabrics look lovely, so thanks for the chance :)
ReplyDeleteArgh! My bad... i've gone through & corrected it :)
DeleteOh I'm so glad for you and Heidi! She's a lovely cutie! I love your speckle quilt.
ReplyDeleteThe Scrappy Speckle Quilt looks great so far and I'm glad your gorgeous Heidi is recovering well :o) my dog is trying to rest his head on the laptop which isn't particularly helpful when typing! You're very generous giving away some of your precious oakshots, thanks for the chance.
ReplyDeleteThose half square triangles look a nightmare, if you give up your Colourbox you will miss out on trying different ways of sewing HST of which there are many. I'm over from the small blog meet too.
ReplyDeleteYour Speckle Quilt is going to look gorgeous when it's finished. Such a clever use of scraps. I love your Paddington quilt, too. Your very generous gift of the Oakshotts would be used to start a solids BOM quilt here.thanks for the chance of winning.
ReplyDeleteI have yet to try Oakshotts, but they sound amazing. What a great giveaway! And I really like your Speckle quilt!
ReplyDeleteI've been dying to get my hands on some oakshotts! You are brave for taking on such a big quilt, I haven't done anything bigger than lap sizes so far. And I usually find a pattern first then pick the fabric.
ReplyDeleteI would love to try Oakshott, like everyone else apparently :) I'd like to feel them or see them in person before splurging on them. Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI love the Oakshotts! Your goals for February are looking good! I can't wait to see what design you come up with out of those fabrics - I love the colors - but I think I would have a hard time finding a design for them!
ReplyDeleteI think those Oakshotts would make a beautiful quilt for my 5 month old daughter. You're brave to make a king size quilt. I tend to stick to baby quilts. Thanks for a chance to win some beautiful fabric.
ReplyDeleteI popped in from Lily's Quilts.. I'm a new follower. What a fab giveaway. :) I think you'll miss out on just looking at that colorful goodness for inspiration. ;) Heidi is a doll, and I love Scrappy Speckle.
ReplyDeleteLove the Speckle quilt! And those Oakshotts are fab!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, you're GIVING THOSE AWAY?!? Shot cottons are gorgeous. I don't know if I could part with them. Your stack of blue triangles is lovely.
ReplyDeleteWow! What a generous giveaway! Thanks for the chance and for linking up! I can't wait to see all your beautiful finishes!
ReplyDeleteDidn't write to ask for the Oakshotts although I would love them, just writing to say I love your little triangle quilt. Love the photo in the sun. Awesome. You are very artistic and I look forward to your finish.
ReplyDeleteHi, I've found your blog through Lily's Quilts. That Speckle quilt is amazing. As for the Oakshotts, if I won them, I'd use them for the stars in the Lucky Stars Quilt Along.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love that color combination and I've heard so many good things about Oakshotts! Visiting you from the Small Blog Meet :)
ReplyDeleteThese look beautiful! Thanks so much for sharing!!
ReplyDeleteso nice to find your blog! I love your works in Progress. Can't wait to see it finished. Also love your inspiration quilt for your HST's.
ReplyDeleteLastly, sure wouldn't mind winning some Oakshotts, but I'm in the States.
Your scrappy speckle quilt block looks like stained glass, and is bound to be quit beautiful! I would love to tell you what you would be missing out on,but have not had the opportunity to sew with OakShot yet. Thank you for the chance to win such a wonderful prize :0)
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to seeing the HST quilt finished, though they all are interesting.
ReplyDeleteOn my screen, those fabrics look like they're from the Pantone Spring 2013 (fashion) palette. So, I suppose by generously offering to pay it forward with your giveaway, you might be missing out on making a quilt that will color coordinate with what the trendy fashionistas will be wearing. I'd be thrilled to win them because since I saw the Pantone palette, I've been wanting to use it as the basis for a quilt.
That speckle quilt block looks beautiful, can't wait to see what you cook up to add to it this month! Those OakShot colors are lovely - I have yet to get to use them and would love the opportunity!
ReplyDeleteHi Todd
ReplyDeleteYou wont be missing out on anything! You'll just be feeling the love!!
Please include me in your giveaway.
Pretty please
Linda
Good luck with finding inspiration.
ReplyDeleteI have found you through Lily's Quilts. I have very few solids in my stash so would love to win this - thanks for the chance!
ReplyDeleteThe scrappy speckle quilt is wonderful! I am envious I want to try the oakshott but it is a wee bit out of my budget for now. Going to have to come back for a visit to see what you are doing.
ReplyDeleteHi Todd, I love Oakshott fabric and these colours would fit in just fine for a seascape, with a few additions from my fabric stash(Oakshott of course!) A sort of early morning view, the sea all gentle blues/greys, with little wavelets creeping gently across the beach while a pale pink dawn lightens overhead. That's how I would use them anyhow. Fingers crossed over here!!
ReplyDeleteLorraine
Your Scrappy Spreckle Quilt is a wonderful way to use small bits of favorite fabric. I'm going to put that on my long list.
ReplyDeleteWhat would you be missing if you share the last fat quarters? That sense of "completion", similar to eating the last Oreo in the bag. But I'm betting the glow from sharing it forward will be better.
Glad to hear that Heidi is doing well.
i like this guy! first, thanks for offering these beautiful oakshotts! i've yet to justify the expense but i don't know that i can hold out much longer... second, you will be missing out on {at least} three epic quilts (i'm a monochrome snob) -- just need to get those fabrics in hand to let my imagination take over ;) thanks again! you da best.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway! And you'll be missing out on...loving the final product, but also ripping out a few seams and trying to figure out why the points don't line up. (Hopefully that helps you give them away. :)
ReplyDeleteI love the Oakshots, thanks for the giveaway! And your quilt with the triangles is just fab. :-)
ReplyDeleteGiving your fats away?!?! Say it ain't so! I would take those fats and ONLY those fats and make a jewel box table cover for my dining room table! Surprisingly, I think the palette is perfect just the way it is! :-)
ReplyDeleteOoh, you're too kind! I reckon that those FQ's look perfect for a new paper piecing design, don't you?! I don't quite know what it will be yet, but I'm sure I can think of something.
ReplyDeleteI would love to try Oakshott, I have never heard of it before, like I need another fabric addiction. I will most definitely add those to a scrappy quilt I am making. Hope your pup is running and jumping around soon.
ReplyDeleteWho doesn't like to click on pretty things in a linky part and be surprised there's a giveaway too! I can see why you're going to use those triangles for something similar to the Rainbow Quilt, it's very cool looking. I would love to try Oakshott, that's one of those special items that I assume I'll never get to see in person, though it might go on my Christmas list next year :)
ReplyDeleteI have never tried Oakshotts but I would love to.
